:)Tuesday Afternoon we arrive at some of our campmates house to prepare ourselves for the adventure of a lifetime. Well My lifetime. It wasn’t their first burn nor their first Transformus. We Arranged for a truck to be rented from Entreprise. Boy was that something else. First they recommend a Large truck cause we told them upon Reservation that we needed something that will Tow a Trailor. Then when we call and make sure we were getting the large truck, they tell us that it is Illegal to Tow with a Rental vehicle. So we ended up giving them a piece of our mind for being mislead. We had a campmate rent the truck for us and we paid them back. We did Tow with the Enterprise truck Indeed! Had to take the bumper off but we got er done! :o)
We had Some bad luck with one of the 4 wheelers before we even left Tennessee. It blew a brake caliber. Not once but Twice!! So here we were Bumperless rental Truck and a Van loaded Down to the Max with 7 peoples stuff for the week at Transformus.

Rental Truck Towed a 16 ft Trailor Loaded Completely.(Enterprise Spare Us In Saying We Can’t Tow With Your Truck!) HA! 2 4 wheelers, 2 trailors, Coolers, Totes, Wood, Gas Jugs, WATER WATER WATER, The Fucking Kitchen Sink! (Seriously We had a Kitchen Sink!), Fire Pit, Clothes and Personal Belongings, Food, Tents,Canopys, Cook Stoves, Blankets, Pillows, Van Seat, Drum, ART, ART and More ART!

Wednesday 3pm The Trip Begins!

Was A Comfortable Ride. The Truck Pulled The weight very nicely. We burnt a quarter tank of gas getting there. NOT BAD AT ALL! I didn’t really care for those tunnels, felt like everything was closing in on me. I made it though! Yippee!!

We arrived at around 5 5:30pm. After this time, Time wasn’t a factor any longer. We were Greeted by high spirited people Given our wrist bands, and were sent inside those Owl Gates!! :o) (Debra and Budda are AWESOME!) We headed to camp, Elysium Fields. When we got there there was a lil bit of a problem with how we were gonna get this truck and huge trailor packed to the brim with stuff up to the spot where we were to camp. NO Fear KANE was there!!! He was really nice and offered to move a tarp that was laying on the ground keeping us from crossing and getting to where we needed to be. Not once but like 3 times! You Rock Kane!

Jeremy & I headed out to the Food Lion to get some Bug Spray. On our way out I wanted to stop by Bacon Camp in Narnia and give Bubba John The Bacon Camp Sign I had Made for them. This is when I was introduced to and offered some fresh tasty “Bubba Piss!” LMAO! Actually it was quite Tasty. Kudos to Bubba Piss! So after my big slug of Bubba Piss we head on out to the Food Lion. (I wasn’t Driving & Jeremy didn’t have any Bubba Piss.)

The guys of our camp were a tremendous help with the Department Of Mutant Transit (DMT).
It was Truely Amazing with just seeing what was happeneing around me.

Thursday Night! DISCO RIDE!!!!

I had an Awesome time on this last minute thought up Art Cart. We Threw the LED Flashing lights to the Trailor and a Disco Ball on the tongue and 40 Dozen Disco Ball Bead Necklaces and headed out into the City of Mysteria! Aboard the Disco Ride were Me, Nic, John Mark, Corveen, Scratchy, and several inbetweens! This night was the night I got the name “Gasolina!” LOL! The things I saw when I got out and about were wonderous! All the Theme Camps were Awesome!!

We started the construction of the Hippie Helicopter on Friday Night! It was an exciting time for me. I had been waiting 2 days to get it ready! It came together nicely! It had Art all around the bottom of the trailor the Helicopter was built onto focusing on the elements Earth, Fire, and Water. The tubing that shaped the Helicopter was wrapped in both Blue and Red LED Flashing Lights. Propellers on the top. It even had a Tail! We rode it around much of the night. At one time we managed to squeeze 12 people on it…It was AWESOME!!!

Saturday Morning!

Jeremy and I got up at 8:30am for the ICE RIDE!!!!!We rode around and took up orders for Ice and Delivered! Kane rode along with us announcing Ice over the megaphone. He’s good with those things! He enjoys having his voice heard! As a result of not everyone stepping up and claiming their ice, We Ended up with several bags left over that no one claimed after 1 hour of over due time with the Ice Truck.( It was suppose to be gone at Noon but Jenn & Bubba John arranged for one extra hour in hopes of getting ice to everyone who ordered it.) After the extra hour was up we loaded up all the extra ice onto our Trailor and went around donating Ice to who we thought needed it the most. Earlier while we were taking up reciepts we had 2 older gentleman come up and ask how they could get ice. At the time we had to break the news that it was all pre sold. After we got the extra Ice we remembered those 2 men and took them both a bag of ice. Also gave the lady making all those smoothies across from the Upper Lake Ice as well so she could continue to create her wonderful Refreshing Chilled Smoothies and Fresh Juices. She gave us some of the best Orange Juice I had ever Drank that morning as well! Thanks Smoothie Lady! (Can’t remember names!) We also refreshed all of the BOD’s Coolers up on Center Stage with the Extra Ice, and left the remainging extra bags of Ice at Center Stage to be gotten on a First come First Serve Basis. Kane Also Annouced that while traveling from the Ice Truck To Center Stage! It felt awesome to give someone ice when they had completely given up hope on getting any due to the fact that it was pre-sold.

After Breakfast we decided to take a trip to the Upper Lake for a Swim. It was fantastic! I myself am not a big fan of swimming in water I can’t see through, but this seemed different and not like a Regular Lake. We had a Water Battle so to speak. Months before Transformus we had picked up these water tubes. Was the best $11.00 Spent!! They were so much fun. We left them on the bank of the Lake for others to enjoy. I seen several people waring it out with them. It was Awesome to see others having just as much fun as we did with them.

Saturday Night: The Burn

We Arrived In The Hippie Helicopter That we Decorated to the max before the Main Event. We had the lights on, Glow Sticks on Corner Dip and Rail. Smiley Faces Hanging from the tubing on the Helicopter construction. A Peace & Love Placque. Beads Hanging In Various Places. Also Had Beads To had Out, Apple Pie & Naughty Girl Juice! :o) The Effigy was awesomely Constructed and the art work on it was great. The Fire Dancers were spectacular, Kane, Jason, Caroleeena, Sarasvati, just to name a few. Everyone who was Dancing around the Effigy were amazing. Just to stand there watching the twirling flames as each performer passed by and hearing the constant beat of the drums was truely amazing! It was unlike anything I have ever encountered! Also to stop and think that we all as a community made all this happen made it that much more emotional and amazing. It’s truely beautiful to see so many people come together and create a place so magical and spectacular! Those letters up on the hill saying “You Are Beautiful” was a message to the whole community, cause we all were truly Beautiful! As the Effigy was being lit you could hear the anticipation. It combed over my entire body. As the flames rose to the top of the Dancing Man it was wondrous. The Bright shine of the flames with that Bunring Sensation all over relieving oneself of all the negative, Or so thats how I seen it. That’s What it was to me. I put forth all my negative energy and thoughts to be burnt with the Firey Hot Flames that Danced around the Effigy in such A Beautiful Manner. A Sense of Healing.

After the burn we rode around Mysteria where everyone was just enjoying one another and everything we as a communtiy had created. You could feel so much love and appreciation. I recieved a Chocolate Dum Dum Sucker that night. On the Stick it had a piece of paper attached to it that read “Everything You’ve Heard Is True!” I couldn’t have gotten a better message at a better time. Cause at that point Everything I had heard about Transformus was true, and I was there to Witness all the Beauty!

Thank you Hot Witches Brews for allowing me to be a part of your camp and allowing me to Radically Express Myself through my Art & Mobile Art the Disco Ride On Thursday Night and The Hippie Helicopter on Saturday And Sunday. I enjoyed drawing and painting the The Goddesses Athena, Freyja, & Idun for the Goddess Shrine. It was a lot of Fun! Even more Amazing when I burnt my Art on Sunday.

With that being said this brings us to The Sunday Night Art Burn. A Touchy Subject for a lot of Mysteria, if not all. It seemed we were the last to arrive and get our Art in the Pile. Jeremy was Hauling the Lighthouse to the Art Burn, and asked them to wait on him til he got back with our Art. We took all the panels off the Helicopter and had them placed in the fire. Along with my 3 Goddesses I had Did for the camp and their Goddess Shrine. This Burn had so much energy. It was Amazing. I had been standing there taking a few pictures when my camera went dead, and I didn’t bring spare batteries down to the Burn Field with me. I was Switching the ones that were in there back and forth and squeezing those Duracells for every lil bit of energy they had in order to get a few pictures. I had given up for a lil bit and my attention was drawn to this guy who was dancing around very close to the fire. I remember looking at him several times and then back to the fire. The thoughts “What if someone ran into that fire” went through my head. I just kind of snapped out of the thought almost instantly. Then Jeremy and i had decided to go have a lil chat with Wordplay who was close by on a golf cart. 5 minutes later, I heard the Gasp of the crowd and turned around to a flaming man being pulled out of the center of the fire by a man in a thong! They immediately rolled the man on the ground and walked him to center stage where the cries for water filtered the air. They Drenched him in water and insisted we all head down to PEX so we wouldn’t be in the way of the Emergency Team. All the Volunteer Fire Team and Rangers Were Awesome! Jeremy took us all down to PEX and dropped the Hippie Helicopter and went back to help Clear the area and keep people from re entering the Burn Field. At Pex Everyone was Low Key. There was a Big Energy Circle and a Huge Group Hug. It was very moving to see everyone come together they way we all did. After the Burn Field was Clear of Emergency Vehicles we were all allowed to go back to out camps. It was a quiet night and we were in bed early.

Monday Morning it was time to pack up and say your goodbyes. I really hated to have to see all the Magical Beauty Disappear little at a time. It seemed we were nearly the last Camp out of Elysium Fields. The Guys did give people in our camp and surrounding camps shuttles to their vehicles so they could bring them back and load up and head out.Rj Spread Grass Seed All Over Elysium Fields. One of the Effigy Builders came by and took our picture of all of us gathered around our heavily loaded 16 ft Trailor ready to head home. His name was A-el or something like that. He was Mid-Eastern. I would like to get in touch with him and see that picture!

Thank you Deerfields, Mysteria, and Transformus For one hell of an experience.

I hope to be a part of this for years to come.

This has been a concept that I've batted around a while now and I think here is as good a place as any to explore and discuss the idea.

At a burn we as a community have to create all of these infrastructure
subcomponents over and over to make any large event happen.

I am proposing here a Meta-Burn.

How I define the term Meta-Burn:

Meta: Beyond; transcending; more comprehensive - It is the language and activity of the Burn that happens all year in our lives, It lives outside, within and beyond the limited scope of the geographical area the burn event is confined to.

[Greek, from meta, beside, after]

Burn: wow, can there be more possible answers to this question?
In this sense Burn is a community. Here I'll quote Larry Harvey in an interview he did a while back with Meridith Medland's PersonalLifeMedia Living Green Blog in the leadup to 2007's the Green Man burn.

"One thing that helps to create real community… I mean, I hear about
communities… the ‘community of insurance underwriters’, the ‘community of
investment bankers’, the ‘community of…’ And really, the thing that most often will spawn a community is, as it will create the most meaningful friendships in life, is going through something with someone else. It’s struggling along together with them.

I had a friend who got rich in the dot.com era, and it was like he walked out of the surf and the tide had come in and had taken his feet right off the bottom, and he was bewildered. I really said to him, “You know, if I were you, what I would do is I would conceive a project, a vision that you passionately want to see realized in the world, and make it big enough so it exceeded your resources, because then you’d have to ask other people to help you,” and so that’s the first thing.

Don’t be shy about asking for people’s help, and don’t self-censor yourself. Be willing to imagine things that may not even seem to make sense. And you might be wrong, but if you don’t take that chance you might not do anything at all; and then be ready to recognize the genius of everyone around you. Everyone has unique talents; everybody does. Everybody does. They might not even know what they are. And so you have to be very alert to see what that spark is in them, and just help them a little bit to engage. That’s all you have to do. Once they’re on fire, they’ll be fine." (Larry Harvey http://personallifemedia.com/podcast...-digital-be-in)

'Once they are on fire' - wow! that is what burning is all about. Releasing your tallents, recognizing the talents of others, seeing that spark and getting the right kind of environment in place to allow that spark to ignite into a fire.

--- So here is what this all comes back to - The Meta-Burn: A burning man
community of people and resources that functions all year round.

Rangers, EMS, Fire, DMT, DPW, Communications, LNT, etc...

We have to gather these resources over and over each time and often have to make these elements from scratch just to fulfill the civic responsibility of running a burn event for the community.

There are groups like Burners without borders ( http://www.burnerswithoutborders.org/) doing real world work and making a real difference in the default world while bridging the gap of understanding that exists between the burner culture and default society. Teaming local DPW people with your local habitat for humanity (http://www.habitat.org/) to engage in projects that not only allow us to learn from others with established skills in construction of large projects, but also let us share our principles in actual practice by 'giving' our skill, labor and time to a worthy cause.

The Earth Guardians (http://earthguardians.burningman.com/index.htm) LNT training and education should be a year round thing and one fantastic way to inject burning man principles into our local communities. We should fashion a meta-LNT team that is already involved in local and regional environmental issues and to recruit other members of our community into a solid organization in the southeast US and assist other regional participants to form and be active in this local civic and community friendly aspect of burner culture. River cleanups, hiking trails, public spaces that the local governments don't have the resources or will to take care of could be adopted by local branches of the Earth Guardians.

Communications teams, rangers, EMS participants can all benefit from being better organized and comminicating better in emergencies. We could coordinate burn equipment with volunteers during the down cycle for various burns and use these resources in conjunction with projects like National SOS, (http://www.nationalsos.com/index.html) or REACT (http://www.reactintl.org/), Not only will coordinating the flow of information between ourselves we could build much better skills at coordinating our event emergencies with those of law enforcement, EMS and fire responce resources in the local community.

The Fire Support teams often have experienced fire fighters on board and have access to educational resources through their own communities at their default home. These skills could be utilitzed in a regional FaRT (Fire action Response Team or what ever name they choose) organization that holds regular education/training and recruitment activities involving fire safety, and coordinating access to valuable community training from available non-profit and government sources. Outreach and education in our burn community could not only reduce our impact on land per the LNT phliosophy we aspire toward it could also prevent serious or fatal injury of the people and ideas we are trying to 'ignite' in a non physical sense.

This is only the beginning of the discussion, but I hope we find that this idea has some merit and we can create year round virtual-encampments of these meta-burn teams.
