Mustang makes sushi

I'm going to be making extreme quantities of extremely delicious sushi (maki and nigiri) at an upcoming regional event. If it works out well, I'm going to scale it up to insane Burning Man heights. My friend Rick took these photos of the birth of my new obsession.

I love it from beginning to end... Reminds me of many a fabulous sushi orgy, only your soundtrack is better. What's the song, if I may ask ?
Rock on !
El Niño
"The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
Hunter S. Thompson, 1937-2005

I will tell my friend Rick who took the photos and chose the music to go with. I will ask him the artist/track info -- I dig it, too. And I will be putting together a huge sushi roll extravanganza at either Flipside or Transformus -- so I hope to meet you at a regional burn soon. Rock on, man, and thaanks!!!

Was this new passion born in my kitchen last weekend? I saw you helping Annie and Spaceboy. And, which regional event will you make your debut at? I want to make sure I am there!

I started my recent obsession a few weeks ago -- not sure what brought it on. I found some ancient videos online (ancient in Internet time, as in 1999-2000) of a sushi chef named Hide (hee-day) who showed what it was all about. That gave me enough confidence to try it. I had purchased a 25-lb. bag of sushi rice at Costco some time ago and was happy that my rice turned out pretty much spot-on.
Since then I went crazy buying sushi gear online, getting a hangiri (or sushi oke) which is a wooden bowl for keeping the rice moist at room temperature, a left-handed sushi knife (since I am left-handed), even a headband to complete the "look," and a bunch of other gear. A big, fat inside-out roll costs under $2 to prepare, even at retail prices. I have been assembling larger-scale ingredients to keep in the RV so all I will need are freshies when the time comes.
I am not sure which event I will go into sushi-rolling mode at, but I am daydreaming that there will be a match made in sushi heaven between Robbie, the god of fresh salmon, and me, Annie and Spaceboy, and we will leave a trail of stuffed, grinning sushi eaters in our wake.
I really enjoyed rolling sushi with the IHOP team last weekend, and want to join them when it makes sense. While I am a novice and those two have to perform under pressure in the catering business, I really want to find opportunities to leave novice status and produce delectible delicacies!

Thank you!
(I can finally see Asian characters on my computer, because I wanted to read your comments. On Windoze I went to Control Panel->Regional and Language Options, Languages tab, checked Install files for east Asian languages, and fed it my Windows XP CD. After a reboot, the browser is showing Asian characters just fine.)

Thank You very Much! ~Phyrebolt SCBMRC
