Friends, burners, flame-throwers, drunkards, fairies and other lovelies,

after nearly 6 months in Atlanta, i cannot recall throwing a proper housewarming party. This is a disgraceful state of affairs. As luck would have it, i just got the perfect occasion to fix it. I am back in town after close to 6 weeks of travel, and will have some great musicians under my roof.

After hitting Colorado, Pennsylavania, New York, and Mexico, on June 8th i flew back to New York for two weddings (one on the 9th, one on the 16th) where the soon-to-be-wedded couples had shrewdly ensured my presence by asking me to perform. I am a stage whore, so i had to say yes.
Thus I packed my guitar and a few good hats and went up to New York for the week, also learning on monday that 2 articles from my dissertation got accepted into major journals, so i even managed to work a little to relive the guilt. Many great things happened which i may narrate later...

But for now, i want to talk about the Human Revolution.

The first wedding was a beautiful, heart-breaking ceremony joining my friends Teagan and Arrow, a bit of which you can admire here (it's only 4 min 30) :

One of the things that made it so fantastic was a kickass live band, called the Human Revolution (they are responsible for the groovy soundtrack). Check their magic here : http://www.thehumanrevolution.org/
Funky grooves, wholesome textures, earthy sounds, jazzy flourishes, progressive lyrics and a lot of tongue-in-cheekiness were on the menu.

As means of introduction, while yours truly was trying to figure out what to play, i got the most amazing spontaneous help from the Humans, met only fifteen minutes beforehand. I started rehearsing with drummer Yelena and Human himself jumped in with the Melodica right after. I played a barely-rehearsed slinky brazilian tune by Djavan and they saved the day with great improvisational intuition.
Then they went on to play all night for our greatest pleasure, and we danced till our feet hurt.

Hey fambly, I can't make this event and the unburner who promised to buy my tickets and vehicle camping pass has backed out. I just put them up on eBay for $199; face value is about $250 at this point.

I've noticed we have a few Dj's...Any body wanna bring some music to the Party! We'd love to have a little more than a boombox (we aint gotta shake the whole 'Hood) It would be great if we could get a little Boom Boom Thump! What You say?

Hey kidz, I know this is not a music site per se, but I thought I'd tell ya about this little music site I found a few months ago while searching for "Rock Bitch". it's pandora dot com. You search for an artist or song you like and the little search engine thingy in pandora will play music similar to that. It's amazing how much music there is out there to listen to. Music and artists I never heard of.... I know this sounds like total spam... but it's better than that :-) It's like a bacon, egg-n-cheese croisantwich after a night of fun chemichals :-) Oh... Rock Bitch is not on fucking pandora....... What a shame!
